Head Spa in Seoul: What Happens, What It Costs and How to Book

What happens in a Korean head spa?

A Korean head spa is a scalp diagnosis, a deep cleanse and a massage in one sitting. Creatrip's guide lists the usual sequence as consultation, scalp analysis, exfoliation, deep cleansing, massage and a hair treatment, with some salons adding machines, steam or water therapy.

The diagnosis is where courses differ most. AHEAD Head Spa runs an AI scalp analysis that reports on scalp type, oil and moisture levels and pores, then does every step by hand on the scalp, neck and shoulders. At THE SEOL:HA the diagnosis is optional, and the longest course adds a foot bath, a back massage and a singing-bowl sound session.

The "15-step" and "18-step" names count stages, not minutes. ARGYOL Seongsu's 15 steps, for example, include two rounds of steam, scalp scaling and a "waterfall" rinse, where water runs over the scalp from above.

A head spa is a salon and wellness treatment, not a medical one. This guide leaves out dermatology and scalp clinics.

How long does a head spa take and what does it cost?

Between 45 minutes and about 2 hours, and from 133,000 won for the courses below. Creatrip's own guide puts a typical session at 1.5 to 2 hours.

• AHEAD Head Spa, Sinsa-dong: 60 minutes for 133,000 won, two 70-minute courses for 161,000 and 175,000 won, and 80 minutes for 203,000 won. These are Creatrip prices, 30% below the shop's regular 190,000 to 290,000 won.
• THE SEOL:HA, Hongdae: head spa courses of 45, 60, 75 and 100 minutes, listed from 158,000 won.
• ECO JARDIN, Jamsil Lotte Tower: the 15-step course takes 1.5 hours for 180,000 won, and the 18-step course 1 hour 45 minutes for 250,000 won.

Check what is paid where. AHEAD and ECO JARDIN take a 20,000 won deposit online and the rest at the shop. AHEAD adds 20,000 won on site for hair extensions, and THE SEOL:HA's listing says on-site and card payments carry a 10% fee.

Which neighbourhoods have the most head spas?

Gangnam, then Hongdae's district. Of Creatrip's scalp-care partner shops, 26% are in Gangnam-gu, 17% in Mapo-gu, which includes Hongdae, and 14% in Jongno-gu, according to figures the platform gave Ezy Economy in December 2025.

AHEAD Head Spa is in Sinsa-dong, the Gangnam neighbourhood around the Garosu-gil shopping street. Jamsil's ECO JARDIN is at the Lotte World Tower complex, east of Gangnam.

Myeongdong and Seongsu have options too. Nanalog Myeongdong, a 5-minute walk from Exit 6 of Myeongdong Station, runs a 90-minute 18-step course with Korean and English service. ARGYOL Seongsu is a 5-minute walk from Exit 4 of Ttukseom Station.

Will the staff speak English?

Often, because foreign guests are a large part of the trade: Edaily reported in August 2026 that about 80% of head spa customers at Juno Seoul in Hannam-dong are foreign. Still, read the listing's language line before you book. THE SEOL:HA says its staff speak English, Japanese and Chinese, ECO JARDIN lists English and Chinese, Nanalog Myeongdong lists Korean and English, and ARGYOL Seongsu lists English, Chinese and Japanese.

AHEAD Head Spa is the exception to note. Its listing says there are no foreign-language staff on site and that staff use a translation app, although the scalp report is translated into your language.

THE SEOL:HA and ECO JARDIN bookings also include Creatrip Buddy, a free assistant that answers in English on WhatsApp or LINE from 13:00 to 22:00 Korea time. It handles rescheduling and cancellations for 7 days before and after the appointment.

How do you book a head spa as a foreigner?

Online, at least two days ahead. On 17 September 2026 the earliest date the three Creatrip listings above would take was 19 September, and each says a booking is confirmed within one to two days. You then get a mobile reservation card or voucher to show at the shop.

Its staff speak English, Japanese and Chinese, its courses run from 45 to 100 minutes, so a short one fits into a sightseeing day, and changes are free up to 3 days before. Choose AHEAD Head Spa if you want a hand-only course in Gangnam and do not mind a translation app, or ECO JARDIN for the 15-step or 18-step format near Jamsil.

What if you cancel or run late?

Cancel at least 3 days ahead for a full refund, and do not arrive more than 10 minutes late. All three listings refund in full up to 3 days before the visit and refund nothing from 2 days before.

Lateness is treated as a no-show. More than 10 minutes late, and the booking is cancelled with no refund of the payment or deposit. Allow for finding the building, since some shops sit on upper floors: Nanalog Myeongdong, for example, is on the sixth floor.

Should you tip?

No. The Korea Tourism Organization says tipping is not required or expected in Korea, so budget only for the listing price and any balance or surcharge due at the shop. The payments guide covers which cards work at the counter.
