Seoul neighbourhood

Seongsu

Short answer

Seongsu is the old workshop district on the east side of Seoul, now better known for converted-warehouse cafes, brand flagships and pop-up stores, with Seoul Forest on its doorstep.

Seongsu grew up around small factories and shoe workshops. Many of those buildings now hold cafes, design shops and short-lived brand pop-ups, which is why the neighbourhood draws younger visitors who have already done the palaces.

It is a place to wander rather than to tick off. The guides below explain how to reach it, how the pop-up scene works and how it fits into a day in Seoul.
